These Push Prong connectors from Straightwire represent a small revolution in durable, high quality RCA and BNC connection technology. I have timed myself and I can assemble a pair of custom length RCA leads (four connectors) in less than two minutes. Astounding, so while I'm waiting for the Weller to warm up I can have it done and plugged in. Custom length cables are really the only path to a neat and professional wire up job behind equipment. Often the time to do this is not easy to find. I believe this new Push Prong (Patent Pending) technology from US based high quality speaker and interconnect cable manufacturer, Straightwire is going to change all that.

The cable used is either Straightwire's own silver plated, solid copper centre conductor 23 AWG mini RG59 coax or any other quality mini coax cable conforming to RG59. The Straightwire cable is made to a superior standard though with better dialectric and a silver plated centre conductor. Due to the design of the connectors it has the impedance maintaining benefits of an F type connector but not the disadvantage of having to use large diameter stiff and difficult to handle full size coaxial cables.

Then screw up the outer barrel (previously placed over the cable prior to insertion) which in the process of hand tightening pushes the prongs (pictured above, click on the small pic for a full size version) into the shield. Not only making a good connection but also offering excellent strain relief. I personally cannot pull the cable out of the connector. Amazing! And fast!

1) A durable, high performance connection at any custom length.

2) Fast to assemble with no need for expensive tools.

3) The plugs are not cheap but are reusable and work first time every time.

4) Maintains a proper 75 ohm termination unlike a hand soldered plug.

5) The RCA plug has the right amount of grip on the socket you plug it into. Its not one of those impossibly hard to get out ones but it isn't loose either.
